About The Role:
Nielsen is seeking a motivated, driven and hard-working, mid-level mobile Android developer. This position requires 3-5 years of experience developing mobile Android apps, working knowledge of network protocols like HTTP/S, VPN, Bluetooth and experience publishing apps on Google Play store. This position will be responsible for designing, developing a mobile application. The successful candidate will be required to engage with all areas within Nielsen including Testing, backend processing systems, operations and partners around the world. This position is expected to bring industry best practices of source control, code review, automated unit test to the team.
Role Details:Design and develop code for Nielsen’s Android mobile digital and audio measurement applications.
Help to drive alignment between different teams and different mobile apps.
Implement best practices across a team of developers and testers.
Deliver efficient, quality software, excellent mobile performance and experience for our mobile app users.
Stay on top of technology change, able to assess impact, able to offer solutions and innovate in the mobile metering and measurement space.
Qualifications & Skills:
BSc in Engineering and / or Computer Science or related field
Should be a mid-level mobile developer with 3-5 years’ experience in designing and implementing solutions for mobile Android devices.
Proven record of mobile app development
Very good Java/Kotlin knowledge
Good knowledge of scripting languages
Very good knowledge of Android networking APIs, specifically HTTP/S
Good knowledge on memory management for embedded applications
Working knowledge of Bluetooth and/or VPN protocols
Proven record on mobile performance optimization
Understanding of IPv4/IPv6, UDP/TCP packets and sockets
Experience with Native and Web communications using JavaScript is a plus
Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins/GITLab)
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and ceremonies
Knowledge of XML/JSON formats and parsers
Experience integrating 3rd party SDKs (e.g. Firebase)
Should be able to work across multiple platforms and domains
Should have the ability to work independently and be a self-starter, always under the direction and support provided by the manager
Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills
Commitment to excellence, accepting responsibility and accountability for results
Flexible to attempt alternate solutions to resolve issues and able adjust to a dynamic, changing technical and business environment
About the Team:
This team will be termed as the Mobile Centre of Excellence (MCoE). The primary responsibilities of this team is to deliver technology solutions needed for Digital / Audio / TV panels, globally.
